lol no joke yes. he's like a random number generator - you plug in a seed and you get this beautiful 10 minute audio essay connection a classic work, 3 recent finance examples, and a weird theory from a Malaysian economist
I love Byrne to death, but I struggle sometimes with his prose just because it's so...dense. I'm not someone to complain about tough prose. I read everything, including authors that are traditionally considered "hard". But even I have to slow down to appreciate a Byrne Hobart article.
What's nice about listening to Byrne on podcasts is that the medium forces him to be a bit more repititive, and thus easier to understand. For most people, listening to them talk is slightly boring because extemporaneous speech lends itself to fewer ideas per minute than writing. But for Byrne, it actually slows him down to *just* the right level where each answer is a polished mini-essay. And his tendency to topic-switch and make eccentric analogies is easier to follow when you can hear the cadence of his voice.
Byrne might be the best interview guest in the game right now

Lol yes I agree. I’ve been trying to convince him to start a podcast for this reason.
