Fantastic interview, fantastic guest.

By the way, a lot of your questions about both the logistics of winning war, as well as the axis power’s inability to cooperate, reminded me of Victor Davis Hanson’s book The Second World Wars. Since you’re reading about this stuff, you might be interested, if you haven’t come across it already. Great book.

Holy moly this is my new favourite single episode of any podcast. Sarah is great at reframing questions and forcing a shift in perspective. I’m feeling a bit smarter from listening to this.

Terrific interview, thank you! I wish I had been able to take her classes when I was in grad school for military history -- picking up her books now. :)

This lady knows nothing more about China than the New York Times allows: the standard Western Narrative for Losers.

Claiming that 'Covid Came from China,' for example, is not only scientifically indefensible, since China is the only country to hav permitted a foreign investigation. Until the US and Europe follow suit, we won't know.

But we DO know, because the CDC told us, that the world's first Covid death occurred in Kansas, not China.

And we DO because the CDC told us, that 4-6 million Americans were Covid seropositive in 2019.

And this bogus 'historian' doesn't know that?

But she knows how Xi and Putin think?

CDC: World's first Covid death: US Jan. 9, 2020. (First Chinese death Jan 11). https://tinyurl.com/bddh5vbz

CDC: Serologic testing finds 1-4% seropositive in December 2019: "These findings suggest that SARS-CoV-2 may have been introduced into the United States prior to 19 January 2020." https://tinyurl.com/bde86nfu

I don't see any logic in your response. First, the first death doesn't mean the first case let alone the origin. Second, it is well known that the covid had well spread before the December 2019 https://www.scmp.com/news/china/society/article/3074991/coronavirus-chinas-first-confirmed-covid-19-case-traced-back. Last, if you really want to know where covid from, you can search covid origin in google schoolar.

There are many reasons for awarding line honors to the USA.

1. The first death is an unambiguous marker. Finding Patient Zero is a big deal in pandemic investigations. Why was no attempt made to investigate it? Why was The Kansas City the only paper to report it, even though the CDC confirmed it to a fact-checker? The question answers itself.

2. It was well known that 300 Chinese were infected with Covid in 2019, certainly. But why is it not known that there were 4 million CDC-certified cases in the US? C'mon.

3. At the loud insistence of the White House, th WHO sent a team to China. They determined that there were no cases in the country prior to the arrival of the US Military Games team, who did not participate in the military games, in September.

4. A September start matches 266 deaths in 2019, and the subsequent 99% lower death rate than America's.

5. The United States refused to permit any WHO investigation or questions.

A blind drover's dog could see what's going on but the important takeaway is this: China beat America very publicly and humiliatingly. Without cheating or lying or letting a million innocent people die.
